Compliance & Risk Monitoring Officer
Location: Based in our Dalston office with flexibility to WFH
Reporting to: Head of Compliance
Contract: Permanent, full-time
Salary: £35,000 per annum

About the role
The primary role is to provide oversight and assurance that the organisation is meeting its regulatory obligations and mitigating risks by conducting compliance monitoring reviews.
In addition, the job holder will be expected to provide cover for the other members of the Compliance Team when required and assist in the wider management of risk within the organisation. Full training will be provided to develop the jobholder’s wider compliance skills and knowledge, as required.
Key Responsibilities
Compliance Monitoring:
- Perform compliance monitoring reviews to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and internal policies.
- Develop and maintain the compliance monitoring methodology.
- Analyse management information (MI) to identify areas for review.
Risk Management:
- Perform risk assessments and maintain the risk dashboard.
Reporting:
- Prepare and present reports on monitoring findings to relevant boards and sub-committees.
- Provide recommendations to improve compliance and mitigate risks.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Build effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
Continuous Improvement:
- Continuously develop and improve the monitoring approach, including the effective use of data.
- Support the review and update of compliance policies and procedures.
Skills and Experience
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years in a compliance role, with at least 3 years in compliance monitoring or audit role within a FCA regulated lender.
- Experience of monitoring of scorecards.
- Preference for someone who has knowledge and practical experience of risk management frameworks.
Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of regulatory principles, rules, and best practices (e.g., FCA, PRA).
Skills:
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and influencing abilities.
- Ability to manage and improve compliance monitoring plans.
Key Result Areas:
- Delivery of compliance monitoring reviews to time and quality standards.
- Effective communication of findings and recommendations, both in writing and verbally.
- Continuous improvement in compliance monitoring practices.
